We’ve built some replacement spars for a cold-molded pocket cruiser we have in the shop, and we’re finally getting some finish paint on them.  It’s fun making things shiny!

This is the result of my post last week showing part of my clamp collection.  I’ve got the sheer clamps glued on the Pelican, and the sheer line cut down and faired out per the plans.  For those that aren’t familiar with boatbuilding lingo, ‘Fairing’ is the process of making the curved parts, of  a boat, smooth, with no bumps or hollows.  I’ll let you in on a little boatbuilding secret,  if you can fair out curves and have them match on both sides of the boat, the boat will look right even if it’s technically wrong.  Please don’t tell anyone.
